So I was watching The Greatest American on the Discover Channel tonight and I was utterly disgusted that Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t make the top honors. Number 3 not bad, but should have been number 1. George W. Bush should have never gotten as high as he did at number 6. BUT RONALD FUCKING REGAN????? Did I miss something? How in the world did he make number 1? ugh! Abraham Lincoln I think would have been a much better choice. This is crap.

I will never get excited about the voting for a number one in this type of category again. Screw it.
Ronald Regan… Christ, help me now.

Yes, but it's important to remember that Miles Davis himself said that no horn player had played anything that Louis Armstrong hadn't. Not to mention Miles Davis was a straight bastard. In the end no one is perfect but Miles was a real bastard; and I love the man's music.

In a way, I just don't think there is such a thing as greatest American. If there is one, it's most likely a person we have never heard of who was kept quiet by our increasingly oppressive society. Ah, I'm being a curmudgeon again. Sorry about that.

It's not surprising that something like that would occur. Wasn't it hosted by that media whore bully, Matt Lauer?
Ronald Reagan, eh? Hrm, obviously that whole bloodshed business in Central America is thought of as a great moment. Maybe the continued rise of corporate cronyism and a demolished economy stuck in people's minds when they voted. Or maybe it was the tons of crack cocaine smuggled into the inner cities by the CIA? Who knows?

George W. Bush at number 6? Okay, this is even more insulting. This mindless killer would deserve that ranking on a different list ( dumbest world leaders, greatest tyrants, etc. ).
I pray that this whole batch of miserable degenerates will one day be remembered as a scourge of American history that almost completely destroyed everything this country stands for, if they haven't already. God, I hate this man and anyone - anyone - who supports him. I hate that I am so struck with anger whenever I see some person in front of me with a Bush/Cheney sticker on their vehicle. I know it's small and juvenile to hate these people but this administration is destroying this country. Okay, enough Bush ranting.

As far as greatest American goes . . . . hrm . . . my vote would have to go to Louis Armstrong. Seems like a good vote.
