“Don’t be fooled, politicians do not run the world”

PS: I’m not dead, just busy with finals on the way

I love you

You are the best thing a guy could ever ask for

Jesus I swear! 8

I am not going to fall into what everybody else has been doing, nope, no sir, not me, damnit….

Everyone who reads this should ask me 3 questions–no more, no less.

Ask anything you want.

Then go to your journal, copy, and paste this, allowing your friends (including myself) to ask you anything.

le weekend avec moi part deux

Now, here is part two of my deliciously full weekend. …. So there we were… In the castle, minding our own business when all of the sudden Easter dawns upon us. I think in a normal situation this would not have been a bad thing, but then again, we do live a block away from United Methodist Church. As my coworker Kathy says, “Everybody goes to church on Easter, even you will.” (Well that last part wasn’t true, but the first part hit the nail on the head.) Cars parked as far away as Julian McPhillip’s house. Pastel colors and light and sweet dresses with white shoes to match. Blah. Easter Sunday is a conundrum to say the least.

It’s now 12:00, we decide to leave our gargantuan edifice, and head toward the dwelling of the parents that begot my loving fiancé. (Or future in-laws, however, I like the sound of the previous sentence) Greeted with the usual, “They’re finally here” and the obligatory sniff check from the dogs, we started the usual conversation. Erika began work on her creation of green bean casserole, which she stated could not be “messed up.”

The grandparents came by, not too long after we arrived ourselves. Erika had already thrown the casserole into the oven, and the okra was being fried at the moment. As I am writing this, I can now smell the food cooking, and the lingering smell of the house as a whole; a sort of mellow vanilla that gently floats past your nose grabbing your attention ever so slightly, but not enough to dampen any activities taken place in the house. A few moments later, the casserole was checked, and given a healthy dose of fried onion topping only to be placed back into the oven to finish.

Everyone’s tea was poured, and the meal started to come together. Fried okra, ham with olives as a garnish, au gratin potatoes with onions, green bean casserole burned ever so slightly at the top, and a gelatinous pastel fruit mixture that would have only been fitting on such a day. I was stuffed, but still had room for the strawberry cake for dessert. Ah, Easter Sunday, a day when few places are open, but many people are out, go figure.

The remainder of the day was spent doing nothing really, other than going to the Sports Authority to look for some Tevas. Relaxation the rest of the day, planning for the backpacking trip to come the following weekend.

Well Guys? 12

May 8th and 9th (The Saturday and Sunday after Finals) I get the lake house for the weekend to do nothing more than party, and chill out. All of you are invited to come. (yes if you can see this, you can come.) There is plenty of room for everybody to crash.

Just let me know if you are coming. (did i mention this is a lake house?)

le weekend avec moi 1

Okay, so I know I said I would do a post soon, and I haven’t really felt like it lately, but here goes… Delirium has set in. My mind is not operating at full capacity. My bones feel weak. Okay, so to be completely honest. I have been up for about 27 hours now. I don’t know why. I only now realize it was a bad idea, but hey, at least I’m not grumpy, right?

“John, tell me about your weekend.” Okay, sure, well, Friday night was no biggie. Just worked that night, and didn’t really do anything else. Saturday, however, is a different story. Tons of stuff happened on that day. For starters, I went on a day hike with Erika in Chewacla State Park in Auburn. I love that little place. Rocks to climb, creeks to cross, puddles of nasty stagnant water to nearly fall in. I think I want to go up there one day to just have lunch. You know, take a small cooler with me, climb up to the top of one of the big boulders, and just have a little picnic above the creek. A nice little perch above everything else out there. Fun.

So anyhow, now that you have caught me daydreaming about doing cool crazy stuff like that, I must complete the rest of my incredibly interesting weekend for you to hear and tell all of the kids. You know, cool shit. But to continue… After the whole affair with hiking, We took a deserving trip to the local quiznos. Some hate the place, some love the place. I am of the latter group. I went up to order the most awesome sandwich any place could ever have (the black angus steak sub) and would you believe they ran out of quiznos world famous black angus steak? I was appalled. So I settled for the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. I still got my damn quiznos. I am happy.

Finished the delicious treat at the college street quiznos and headed back to Montgomery. Returned back to the Castle for some much deserved rest and relaxation. Hung out there for a little while, and the decision was made. We were on our way to the Montgomery Street Café. That place is sweet. Jeremy is awesome. I only wish I had the balls he does to go out on a limb and start his own business. The Caramel Mocha wasn’t too bad either, in fact, it was better than “wasn’t too bad” it was excellent. Erika and Jeremy were talking about old times when their old teacher they had together came walking into the fine establishment that he has there on Montgomery Street. I thought they could keep talking about the “good ole times” forever. But then again, they hadn’t known each other forever, so that would be quite the impossibility now wouldn’t it?

I am going to end my post about the weekend here, but so far I have really only covered Saturday. I know. I pack a lot into my weekends. I will pick up where I left off later.

Saving Time in effect Wastes Time 1

Saturday came and went much more quicly than most. I don’t know what was up with that day, but it was as if there was nothing that could have been done to slow the time down. Superman, flying around the world backwards wouldn’t have been enough. I guess it was because there was so much work I had to get done on Saturday. Not to mention, work itself was incredibly busy, for a Saturday that is. After work, running some errands, doing some work on my Jeep, and getting gas, it was time to come home and relax right? Well, sort of. I did get to relax a little, but Erika had Melissa over for the day. I wanted to go out that night, but a movie wasn’t cutting it.

Called up Colette and Josh, and we headed out to Bud’s. There was something about being there, with a nice cold beer, and talking to people that settles me down. Relaxation has nothing on a bar, a cold beer, and good friends. Four beers, two games of pool, and a backpacking trip nearly planned, we decide to head back home.

I popped online for only a few minuts to check my email, and catch up on LJ when I noticed the time on my computer go from 1:59 AM to 3:00 AM. An entire hour of my life passed me by with the blink of an eye. I have until the end of the year to get that hour back, but I have a funny feeling it is going to happen when everybody most expects it.

Ah, yet again, it is time for me to go to bed and wake up for another miserable day at school. I just wish the semester were over already. (ready for summer)

Parking Meters

I went downtown today, took a few pictures.
Here is a small Series…
