statistical inference

According to some of the statistics on my info page, I have done some calculations about my posting habits. Normally I go on weeks, or months of inactivity, only to be followed by about a few weeks of activity, and then I am dormant again.

I have had this journal for almost 5 and a half years. In that time I have made 664 posts (that includes this very post). As you can see, over that much time, I generally do not post that much. After I broke the numbers down, however, I see these numbers in a slightly different light.

664 posts /
2,007 days (rough estimate)=
0.3308420528 (truncated after 10 decimals)

That also means, almost 1 post every 3 days. Not bad when considering the time frame.

I have comments to consider as well.

I have posted 0.4369706028(again, truncated) or almost every other day
I have received 0.4384653712 nearly the same calculation of almost every other day

Total communications, sent or received, on LiveJournal 0.8754359740
Some type of communication, either generated by me, or another person towards me, almost every day.

So remember kids, math is fun.

(For you hardcore math nerds out there, I was going to take each posting day, take the number of posts as an event, then find the standard deviation of said event to see how many outliners I had making this average of averages a little more acurate. But with more than 2000 observation taken place, and nearly 700 statistical points, this became a daunting task. With that information, I would be able to say, “Out of 2007 days, I post on X number of them, from that number I could then infer Out of X posting days, the mean of n posts on X days was X^)
