Lazy Wii Guy
Okay, this clip is so funny I nearly fell out in class. He has taken laziness to the next level.

Last night on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, had Bill Gates as guest to promote Windows Vista.
It wasn’t has funny as I thought it could be. I am sure many of you were upset with the absences of John Hodgeman, probably better known as the PC on the Get a Mac advertisements by Apple. All I wanted him to do was to walk out there with a puppy dog face, impromptu of course, and hug Bill Gates. I could have said something witty, like “Father, it has been so long!” But, the hug alone would have made that hilarious.
Bill Gates did leave the show abruptly, sort of in an akward manner, as if he didn’t know what he was doing on the set. He was unaware of what was happening almost. His conversation seemed muttled, and quite nerdy. Let’s face it. Bill Gates is the king of all nerds. This is to be expected of the guy who made billions from making buying and selling an operating system.
I would have loved to have seen more of a comic approach to the interview instead of Jon Stewart’s quirky inputs, but it was still enjoyable. The whole password question was pretty funny. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it yet, I am sure it is on YouTube, you should check it out.
I just installed a new plugin for my WordPress install. Twitter Updater. This post is both to test, and inform. But mostly to test. So here’s what happens… When I save, publish, edit a post, it will send an update to twitter. If it is a new post, it will also include the link. Let’s see if this works.
The New York Times has an article about a judgment from an Alabama couple that was
over-ruled in the US Court of Federal Claims. The reason the judgment from the previous court was over-ruled was because part of the judgement cited Wikipedia.
The reaction from the court above her, the United States Court of Federal Claims, was direct: the materials culled from the Internet do not at least on their face meet standards of reliability. The court reversed her decision.
Oddly, to cite the pervasive, and for our purposes, disturbing series of disclaimers concerning the sites accuracy, the same Court of Federal Claims relied on an article called Researching With Wikipedia found where else? on Wikipedia. (The family has reached a settlement, their lawyer said.)
This scares me. A court, no matter their status (local, district, federal, etc) should be allowed to cite Wikipedia for their reasoning in a judgement. Why? Wikipedia can be changed at anytime, by anybody. If they cite a specific instance in Wikipedia, what prevents the person it affects from changing the definition of the judgment and filing suit because of the updated Wikipedia article.
The really scary statistic I have quoted from the NY Times again.
More than 100 judicial rulings have relied on Wikipedia, beginning in 2004, including 13 from circuit courts of appeal, one step below the Supreme Court. (The Supreme Court thus far has never cited Wikipedia.)
Wikipedia is a great for looking up something for personal knowledge, or even for research, but more for a jump-start on where to look. I disagree with its usage in a legally binding way.
I just tried to install and activate the LiveJournal Crossposter. Not only did it not work, I couldn’t even activate the plugin without errors flashing up everywhere. I haven’t looked at the code yet, but this is inspiring me to create a plugin that does a similar task, but possibly a little different than the plugin does.
I was reading through the comments of the plugin page, and saw that a lot of people had 3200 errors. I know that livejournal will allow you to update via email. You can set up a cron job to email out, so, why not have it capture the post, post it to wordpress, then take that post and email it to the address specified by LiveJournal.
I guess this would keep multimedia content from working properly, but if it posts, at least it can do that. I may get around to that, but it may not be until May. I am so swamped right now.
Is anybody doing anything for the Super Bowl? Who is having a party? Do we need to get one started? I need to know!
Just updated to the new version of WordPress. Again, flawlessly. I am on a roll today. I was worried for a bit with the TinyMCE images didn’t display in the editing window at first, but now they do. They must have been in a different directory from the original, and my cache was preventing me from seeing it. Other than that. All is good.
If you see this post, I am in the process of upgrading. If I have another update after this, and this post is still here, then that means I didn’t have to pull from my back-ups. I say that, because I just backed everything up, and now I am making this post. Crossing Fingers…
There is a great site for a quick tutorial on how to take amazing pictures of smoke. Photocritic.org has the write up. Nothing amateur about it. These picture are amazing, and I wish I had the time and patience to make something like this work for me. I can still view the photos, and they are still amazing. Below are a few examples of the pictures.
