Moved…

If you didn’t see the post about moving last night, you weren’t alone. I posted about the switch to the new server and how I wouldn’t be updating until the change was completed.

The change is completed!

—————————–

The DNS replication was much faster than I anticipated. I guess it has been several years since I have had to change name servers on a domain. There were times when you could be waiting a day or so for the changes to be completed. The entire change of my domain from one server to the other once I changed the nameservers was only 15 minutes. Impressed!

In case you are wondering. I moved my hosting from godaddy to a2hosting. Nothing wrong with godaddy for the size site I have, and the bandwidth I am pushing. It worked fine. But the hosting features are what I needed, and while they do provide some features, A2 makes godaddy look like fisher-price hosting. I also looked at acornhosting. I really liked what they were doing, and it would have probably felt better for a while to have moved to them. Alas, A2 had the most features for the best price and a fair amount of disk space and bandwidth.

There are probably some issues going on with the site right now. I haven’t had time to check out every nook and cranny but I am getting around to all of the plugins, scripts, and other php hacks to make sure most of them work. I have disabled those that don’t until I can get around to recoding them. Some theme issues, but I will have those worked out sometime today.

Hang in there, it can only go uphill from here.

Virb.com

I am sick of receiving crazy friends request, messages, group invites, and bulletin posts on myspace. Friendster is long dead, and I have never really gotten into facebook. Where am I to go with my social networking needs? Virb.com

The layout is clean, interactive, and easy to modify. In fact, they want you to make your page on virb yours by providing CSS customization. The site is still mostly early adopters, which is great to me because that means just about everybody on the site as common interest.

I think I will write a review of this later, but I want time to play around with everything first. I really want to tweak my customization with CSS instead of the basic layout I have now. I will write it up, and you let me know.

Bum Rush the Charts

Bum Rush The ChartsPodcasting gets little respect from traditional media. To them we’re little more than a joke, than amateurs. What they don’t understand is that podcasting is more than just a delivery mechanism - it’s a social movement. People are sick of the watered-down, cookie-cutter content that networks and record companies expect us to enjoy. People are tired of watching friends and loved ones get sued by record labels who only care about profits and nothing else, not even the artists they supposedly represent…. Read More Here

Go there, buy the track, support college students, support independent music, screw the RIAA!

Justin.TV 2

I have slowly become addicted to Justin.TV. It is quite like the Truman show, but instead of everybody watching what Truman is doing, and seeing how he acts with others, we get a first person view.

Rarely do we see Justin. It is a 24/7 event online. I was in the chat room tonight when over 300 other people were there viewing him live on his webpage.

A little surreal, but, it is worth checking out.
