I modified the original marimba ringtone that comes with the Apple iPhone. This ringtone is louder than the original marimba which seemed very faint to me. I also made it a true stereo ringtone. Even though the original said it was stereo, it only played from one side of my phone. Here is the modified marimba ringtone, which I made for my Windows Mobile 5 device. Specifically the Cingular 8125 by HTC. Click Here For File

Hi. Thanks for the loud Marimba! Can you explain how you did this? I’d like to make some more of the iPhone ringtones louder. Thanks again.
Ray, thanks for the comment, to make the ringtone louder, I took the MP3 file, imported into Audacity. I then bumped up the db from the left side of the bar. Generally, this is supposed to be set at -12db, but I think this is upped to -3db.
To make it stereo, I made it fake stereo by copying the left channel and pasting it into the right channel. I say it is fake because it really plays the exact same thing through the left and right channel at the same time.
If you decide to make more MP3 ringtones like this, let me know, I would be interested in hearing them.
Thanks so much for sharing this ringtone. I was using the version circulating the web when Jobs announced the iPhone.
sweeet … thanx so much for sharing this bro …
Really late comment, but regarding the mono audio: your iPhone only has one speaker, so making the ringtone stereo will have no effect.
Sorry I’m late to reply, but the iphone should have stereo ringtones because you can wear headphones or play it through a dock. (I found out well after I put this file up that it is indeed in stereo to begin with, but the location I got the original file didn’t have stereo)
For some reason I never saw this comment. You bring up an interesting point, and one that seems to confuse a lot of people. All of the ringtones on the iphone are indeed stereo. Even though the iphone only has one speaker on the bottom, it is capable of pushing ringtones out through headphones and also through the dock connector.
The reason I modified this one was because on the phone I had at the time did have two speakers on it and I could only hear the tone coming out of one of them. Also, the speakers on that phone weren't as good as the ones on the iPhone so I needed to bump up the volume a touch.
This was just my contribution to the community of folks that were making their Windows Mobile devices act like iPhones.
so how do i download it? or is it only for listening?
Sorry about that, I installed a plugin and it was taking over all MP3 links. I have modified the way that works so you can both listen to, and download the mp3.
! Cannot open index.dat
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
I don't understand what a Windows Data file has to do with an MP3. Sounds like you have some applications that need to be quit in order for whatever process you are attempting to be successful.
I’m having a hesitation on the words “Windows Data File for MP3″ Could you help me to elaborate on that stuff about? Thanks!
im not very bright….i dont know how to download this to my computer. I can hear the ringtone but I dont see how to download it.
