  • You know, we don’t have enough hardcore slayer styled rock bands with a lead French Horn. #

Stuck in an eye-drooping class

I am sitting here in my database class and my eyes are burning. I want to close my eyes so bad, not because I am sleepy (I am!) but because of the previously mentioned eye burning. I am also hoping this makes it to my blog because I am typing this from my phone. You might be asking yourself why is he using his phone? BECAUSE WE STILL HAVEN’T BEEN GIVEN THE LOGIN TO OUR WORKSTATIONS! This is a mini term, so we are nearly halfway done, and have yet to use our systems. Horse crap I tell ya. Eyes are burning worse now, hope I am not coming down with something.

  • Listen here dubya, we aren’t clapping for a reason. #
  • It is warm outside, more than 60 degrees, and I am stuck in a freezing cold server room #
  • Using Twitter in Flock, I am thinking they should make this more intuitive. #

String Tripod 1

I found this today at instructables. Love this tip, because again I am thinking of this as a good way to take a tripod backpacking because all of the equipment needed is in the backpack except for the loop screw. Excerpt and link below.

This is an old photographers trick - here is my design. Sometimes referred to as a string tripod or string bipod or string monopod. Also known as a chain tripod, bipod, etc… This device is used to stabilize a camera in order to get clearer pictures at a slow shutter speed. With more and more digital cameras coming out with vibration reduction or image stabilization systems, the string tripod has a new life.Since image stabilization systems work best with rotational vibration, translational vibration can still create blurry pictures. By restraining the up-down left-right and back-front axis, you can lessen this vibration. Since with this design you still have rotational freedom, you can pan and follow something such as a bird or sports player. You can also recompose your shot with little trouble. Of course this technique also works well with non image stabilization systems.

Advantages:-Cheap-Easy to make-No special tools needed (or really any at all)-Hard to break-Small-You can use this where tripods are disallowed (such as museums)-If the “tripod” gets dirty you can throw it in the wash-If you misplace it, you can make another-Rotational movement still available for panning and recomposition
Disadvantages:-Does not hold as steady as a real tripod-You can get some looks while using it

A Wilderness Hike

I have been thinking about it almost non-stop for the last week or so, and I have to get it out there. I want to go backpacking again, and I want to do it relatively soon.
I have thought about doing it during the spring break time of the year. I guess that is mid-march. Should be warm during the day, maybe the 60s or even 70s, and cool and crisp during the night, hopefully down into the 40s.
I have been going to the gym, and while I do want to lose weight, and get in shape to look and feel better, the one thing that has gotten me there and pushed me more than anything is to get in shape for a backpacking trip.
If you are interested in going, I would love to go the the Smokies. I think Joyce Kilmer would be good around this time of year too. Possibly even north Georgia or far north Alabama. I am up for suggestions. I don’t normally go this time of the year, but I certainly won’t find much time again until May, and the temperatures can get quite warm during the day unless you are no further south than Northern Tennessee.

The Weekend of Pride and Justice, I don’t know why I name these things sometimes

It isn’t often that the weekend plate is filled with a variety of different options from which to choose. The problem with these decisions is there are so many good ones that it becomes hard to pick. The real problem isn’t in which ones you choose to do, but in how many of them you think you can handle in one day. Here’s the dirt…

Earlier in the day on Saturday, my friend Bo was having some folks over to play some video games and have fun while his wife was working. We went and played some games, watched the TV a bit, but mostly it was to hang out and have fun. A few hours later, we decided to go to tomatino’s and have dinner. Delicious by the way, and if you haven’t been to Tomatino’s you must go, easily the best Pizza in Montgomery, but probably the best pizza in the state.

After eating, my friend seth was having a going away party. Erika and I went there, to our old place The Carriage House. It was a good time. I got to talk to people I haven’t seen in months. But you know exactly what happens when you go to places like this. You start drinking, then there are people that show up, and you don’t want to talk with them. But did you know this? Nobody else wants to talk to them either. The only people who want to talk with them are them. As strange as it sounds, it is true, they just want to hear themselves talk. Annoying.

It was a good time, and I am glad I went, and before I go, I want to wish Seth and Chrystal a safe and happy travel to their new home in Nashville.
