About
I suppose this is one of those areas on the vast internet where complete strangers are to come and learn all about the little, boring, stupid things I do with my life. I try to not divulge too much information about myself in one area as I find that to be a most repulsive practice among most bloggers.
That picture you see to the left… that is me. It was taken while the wife and I were enjoying some down time in Florida. Green stripes = good vibes. (Oh, and just between you and me, the best time to go to the beach, especially in Florida, go during the winter. Warm enough to enjoy, nobody crowding every tourist hotspot. No airbrushed T-shirts! Always a plus.)
I will go on about some of the things that interest me, some of the things that I do. All of the major things that make up my life. Similar to the 5 minute socializing chat: “What do you do for a living?” “Where did/do you go to school?” “Are you married?” “Do you have a myspace page?”
“What do you do for a living?”
I am the systems administrator for a well-known theatre in Montgomery, Alabama. I provide their system updates, work with a multitude of great (and crazy) personalities, and really enjoy both the place I work and the people I work with. Any organization that still uses BeOS on critical systems is cool with me.
In addition to working at the theatre, I also work on the side as a network administrator for the minor league baseball team here in the capitol city. They are a great group of people too. Dedicated to their work, and why wouldn’t they be? Baseball games at night and on the weekend, plus working with your friends all day.
“Where did you go to school?”
I graduated from Auburn Montgomery with my BS in Business Administration with a focus on Information Systems, Data Communications. That is a long way of saying “I do computers.”
In addition to the school front, I also worked on my Microsoft Certification and became an MCP. I don’t really use this much, and if I had to do it all over again, I would probably still do it, only because I learned a lot of things I didn’t quite know before going to take the test.
“Are you married?”
Glad you asked. Yes! I am married to a wonderful girl. I met her at the learning institution I have spent so much of my time and money going to. She was the editor-in-chief at the newspaper there. I just wrote a technology column here and there. We became fast friends, and then started dating.
We were married in July of 2004 at Lake Martin. It was also the hottest day of the year, not just because of the fantastic woman I married, but also because the heat was extraordinary and the humidity was on par with many of the better saunas to be found.
“Do you have a myspace page?”
Who the hell uses myspace anymore?
“Anything else I should know about you?”
